Chiqas is a unique collective that specialise in pop, funk, jazz and classical music. We create bespoke arrangements of popular music for ensembles ranging from string trio to the full quartet with an acoustic drummer (cajon) and singer.
We all met at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance whilst studying our instruments and perfecting our trade.
Being classically trained, individually we all have copious amounts of performing experience playing in venues such as Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall and Wigmore Hall, as well as international venues, playing with pop stars, appearing on The X Factor and The Voice, to playing on West End Stages.
Our set list is exclusive to Chiqas, and our arrangements will not be found anywhere else, thanks to our amazing arranger Becky.
All our arrangements can be performed by any of our ensembles which can condense and expand at your will. We pride ourselves in playing music that varies from Bach to Britney, ensuring our music covers all parties, events, wedding services, receptions, and any other event.
With the addition of our acoustic drummer and singer, there is no need to book a separate function band for the evening party- Chiqas can do it all!
"The girls were fabulous to work with, Clodagh was so helpful, even arranging a new song for us and then playing it with my sister singing along live on the day. We had so many lovely comments from our guests, with so many saying 'how normal' they are! And that is exactly why we love them too. 5 normal girls, doing their thing, that could so easily be our friends and so fitted right into our day."

do you take song requests? if so, how many?
yes yes yes! WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE TAKING REQUESTS and hearing your song choices and musical tastes! WE HAVE NO LIMIT ON THE AMOUNT OF REQUESTS WE TAKE PER booking (OUR FAV REQUEST SO FAR WAS LOADS OF GAMES MUSIC FOR AN AWESOME GAMING COUPLE when we played at their wedding)
what's your favourite type of music to play?
I think we are all 90s girls at heart. anything spice girls, britney, & ariana and we are sold. we love a bit of disney, and any type of themed party is right up our street (we are patiently waiting to play at a bridgerton themed party)
What's your ideal booking vibe?
we just love having fun and genuinely love playing such a huge variety of music. working with people who have a real strong taste in music that is authentic to them is what we love. we adore mixing things up with playing very classical music for high end events, or getting our fav 90s bangers out to play
WHAT AREAS DO YOU COVER?
WE ARE BASED IN LONDON BUT WE LOVE TO TRAVEL! TAKE US WITH YOU ON YOUR ADVENTURE!
HOW MANY IN TOTAL IS THERE OF YOU GUYS?
CHIQAS ORIGINALLY STARTED AS 6 MAIN PLAYERS, HOWEVER AS TIME WENT ON AND DEMAND GOT HIGHER (AND SCHEDULES WITH TOURING ETC GOT BUSIER ) WE EXPANDED THE CHIQAS FAMILY, SO THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 30 PLAYERS IN OUR POOL AT THE MOMENT. I HAVE PERSONALLY WORKED WITH EACH PLAYER, ALL OF WHICH ARE PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED, EXCEPTIONALLY TALENTED, AND ALL KNOW ONE ANOTHER, MEANING THE FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE IS ALWAYS MAINTAINED.
What is the box drum thing?!
our drummers play a drum called the 'cajon'. it is an acoustic drum that is essentially a box they sit on and play with their hands. There is a hole in the back of it for the sound to come out of, and the tone of the drum changes depending on where they hit it with their hands. it is perfect for us as it is acoustic, meaning it isn't at all overbearing for a group of people listening or for us to play with, yet provides an incredible beat that gets any crowd going.
